Jemma was part of the original Melbourne Australian cast of Wicked, where she was cast as Standby and performed the role of Elphaba. In Sydney, in 2010, she was honored to take over the role and continued performing as Elphaba through to Singapore and Seoul. In 2013 Jemma toured with Wicked to Auckland and Manila before returning to Australia to celebrate the show’s ten year anniversary with a national tour of Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth, belting out an amazing 1200 shows from all these venues combined.
In 2016 Jemma starred in Ghost The Musical. Based on the Oscar winning film of the same name, Ghost The Musical toured Australia for the first time with Jemma in the lead role of Molly Jensen. In 2017 Jemma did a cameo appearance in Grease The Arena Experience for the Harvest Rain Theatre Company, playing Teen Angel. Most recently, Jemma made her Sydney Opera House debut in the concert Witches, performing with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and sharing the stage alongside a stellar cast of Australia’s finest leading ladies of musical theatre.
Jemma recorded her first solo album Gravity, which launched in August 2017 and is available on iTunes and jemmarix.com. Jemma will also sing solos, duets and quartets in the album version of the Witches concert, conducted by Kelly Dickerson with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
Jemma has performed in numerous live concerts including the Prime Minister’s Olympic Dinner, Melbourne International Tennis Australian Open, Emirates Melbourne Cup, 2014 State of Origin, 2011 Brisbane International Men’s Tennis Final, Carols by Candlelight at Sidney Myer Music Bowl, Sydney’s Carols In The Domain and a massive highlight was singing For Good to the Dalai Lama for his 80th birthday.
Jemma was nominated for a Helpmann Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical for her portrayal as Elphaba in Wicked and she was also named Theatre People Pro Choice Award Winner – Best Actress in a Musical, Wicked.
