RUSSELL GRANT

Training: Russell was born into a movie background and began his career as an actor, training at drama school in Middlesex.
Theatre includes: Oh What a Lovely War (Marlowe, Canterbury), The King and I, Ivor Novello’s King’s Rhapsody (UK tour), Soap (Stephen Joseph, Scarborough), Probably Wanstead (Brighton Festival), Narrator in The Rocky Horror Show (UK tour), Hans Anderson (London Palladium), Camille (Arts), Tom Brown’s Schooldays (Cambridge Theatre) and dame in many pantomimes. Lately Russell has returned to the stage, directing and appearing in Under Milk Wood and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and recently directed the 1960s-themed musical Bliss! at Coleg Harlech where he teaches as Senior Creative Director: Performing Arts.
Television includes: Strictly Come Dancing 2011, and presenter on LWT’s Six O’Clock Show, BBC’s Breakfast Time and on TV-am. He appeared regularly on ITV’s This Morning in the 1990s (BAFTA Award) and hosted Russell Grant’s All Star Show. He directed and presented Russell Grant’s Postcards for Sky/C5. Early appearances include the BBC’s Wednesday Play, On the Buses, Please Sir!, The Fenn Street Gang, all of The Doctor series, The Canterbury Tales and Gazette (the BBC’s first ever colour production). In the USA Russell was one of the original presenters of the FX Channel for Fox TV in New York City.
Film includes: The Land that Time Forgot and many others.Russell spent most of his childhood in the care of his grandmothers and was a carer to one of them who suffered with Alzheimer’s; Russell suffered clinical depression. He now raises money for Alzheimer’s research charities.
